The pantry

Seven years ago, I would buy my pantry items in bulk. My goal was to have my pantry fully stocked at the lowest price possible. I won! Sort of. I’ve admitted to myself that I’ll never see the bottom of the rolled oat 5-gal bin, and that the dried chickpeas won’t Instapot themselves into delicious hummus.

I used to plan my groceries around CaseLot sales. Not anymore! I’m committing to only buying what I will eat in a week. I don’t need 12 cans of diced tomatoes if I’m only making one pot of chili on Monday! I seriously doubt my Mourners will make use of the expired ten 1L apple juice boxes.

Now when I complain that there’s nothing to eat in the house, I’ll be right! I guess there’s room for a more nuanced approach. I’ll keep tinkering with that.

How heavy is your canned goods shelf?
