I used to wash the different-sized ziplock bags that would find their way to me. I have a drawer full of them. Well, *had* a drawer full! My recycling bin is one part condiment jars, one part folded plastic bags. You’re welcome, Mourners.
I also sorted through my cutlery drawers and set aside the pieces that belong in the communal office kitchen. I’m sure my coworkers will feel relieved to not have to look high and low for a soup spoon!
I’m starting the death cleaning with items that I don’t have emotional attachments to. I find it easier to begin with the tedious. The pantry is next. I can imagine that the mourners of 150 years ago didn’t have to deal with that since their homes were sparser. In a way, I’m time-travelling too?
